Saunders wins all day for my money.. Best pound for pound boxer we've got, true world class. I'd go far to say he could give GGG & Canelo a good fight.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
Will be a great final (if Groves is fit).

If not, Smith can punch Eubank about too.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
The difference between Smith and Eubank is that Smith is a much taller man and also has a long history in amateur boxing.

Groves will not just be able to keep him on the end of his jab all night and will instead potentially be the one on the end of Smith's jab.

Smith is 6'3" with a 78 inch reach and Groves is 6ft with a 72 inch reach. Smith poses a toally differnet problem for Groves.

Not saying he won't win but to think it will be a walk in the park is wrong. Smith is a very very live challenger.

No time for Jnr, nothing like his old man for skills. How he even thought he won is delusional. I’ve just watched the WBSS post fight vid, none of his team can tell him he lost, “it was a close fight”was it fuck!! Even Bunce and Costello on their podcast gave it to Groves by only two rounds and then rip Jnr apart for the rest of the podcast for being shite.
All subjective of course but for some reason Jnr was massively overhyped, in my opinion.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
The fight with Smith goes the same way as the fight with Eubank. A decent European level fighter against a decent world level fighter. Groves wins.

Callum Smith will beat him.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
I hope that the Groves shoulder injury is quickly healed and that he can move on to the final stage of this round robin.

A fight with Smith would be a good end to this elimination process because it would be much more competitive, and closer, than Saturday night's efforts.

Indeed, I have no idea why a lot of people seemed to think that Eubank would be able to knock Groves out, he doesn't have his dad's power, nor his heart.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
Trev - Yes, they were urging him to go forward. You are right.

But when he did he got tagged by Grove's jab or tied up on the ropes. It's ok to say to a boxer keep going forward but if it's not working and he is getting a jab in the nose each time then what do you do?

Eubank does not have power to knock out Groves. He couldn't out jab him. He tried moving forward and got out-jabbed. When he got inside he was ineffective and Groves easily contained him.

So his camp just kept saying 'Move forward'. Seems like the game-plan wasn't right??

But yeah you are right, it was similar to the BJS fight. Too little too late. But to be fair to Jnr the plan wasn't working and early on you could see it was going to be a disaster for him.

Russ

it seemed to me that Snr was suggesting that his son hadn't stuck to the game plan. you could hear them earlier in the fight encouraging him to go forward and put groves under more pressure. I can't imagine that they would have gone in with a bigger fighter and made the same mistake as he did with BJS and left it too little, too late, but it seems that what Jnr did.

Again, bit childish to come on bragging about how you were right though.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
Jnr has taken a lot of stick from a lot of people. Much more than most other boxer's I have ever known to lose a fight. Even his dad and his trainer have been very critical of his performance and were so right in front of him.

It's almost been that his dad and camp have distanced themselves from it and I feel for him a bit as he seems isolated.

A lot of the criticism from the boxing world may be down to his dad and his camp. They built him up and created a monster that actually may not even exist. Now the media and boxing pundits will and are taking great delight in knocking him back down.

Jnr's camp put him in with a bigger and more experienced man. They gave him a game plan that quite obviously early on was never going to work. Yet they are the ones also criticising him.

I do feel for Jnr a little. Seems all a bit harsh and unfair and coming from all sides. He didn't fight well and let himself down but he isn't the first boxer to do that and lose.

Re: Eubank Jr vs Groves
Haha...

Most people in the boxing world called Groves.

Eubank is a middleweight, GG is a big Super Middleweight.

GG has boxed at the very highest level. CE has fought one person of note, and lost.
